The big news this week of course was former #1 in Division 1 Madison East getting knocked off at Beloit. With several teams breathing down their necks, East was definitely going to be dropping from the #1 spot. The questions then became: Where does East fall to, and who becomes the fourth team this year to hold the #1 spot? Let's go inside each division and find out.

WSN/WBCA Week 10 Coaches Poll

Division 1

With the loss by East, the Purgolders fell out of the top spot and down to #3 in this week's poll. It was a very close vote, but Milwaukee Hamilton received a slight edge over Racine Park for the top spot. De Pere and Madison Memorial round out the top five. Much of the rest of the poll was unchanged, with Kaukauna (#9 last week) the only other top ten team to lose. The Ghosts slip to #11 this week. Eau Claire Memorial returns to the polls while Wausau West makes its debut appearance at #15. Milwaukee King and Waukesha West dropped out of the rankings after suffering losses last week.

Division 2

Port Washington was knocked off by North Shore rival Germantown on Friday night, a loss that dropped the Pirates from the #2 spot to #5 this week. Waupun takes over the second spot behind unbeaten New Berlin Eisenhower at the top, followed by Catholic Memorial and Wisconsin Lutheran. Onalaska (#6 last week) fell to Mississippi Valley Conference rival La Crosse Central and slide to #9 in this week's poll. In the bottom of the rankings, East Troy and Winneconne both make their season debuts in the rankings thanks to solid recent performances and the losses by former ranked teams Pewaukee and Sturgeon Bay.

Division 3

In another great installment of the Whitefish Bay Dominican-Racine St. Catherine's rivalry last Friday the host  Angels were able to pull out the win and secure their #2 ranking in D3 behind undefeated Cuba City. The loss allowed Fall Creek to leap-frog Dominican as well as Darlington and take over the #3 ranking. Darlington stayed put at #4 while Dominican slid to #5. Interestingly but I think appropriately 4-loss Dominican is ranked one spot ahead of unbeaten Marathon. Comparing the two team's schedules and level of competition it appears to be the appropriate ranking. The rest of the top fifteen remained the same except for Watertown Luther Prep returning to the poll in place of Parkview.

Division 4

Randolph remains the unanimous selection as the #1 team in Division 4, but last week's second-ranked team Sheboygan Christian was knocked off at league rival Oostburg and drops to #6 this week. Unbeaten Clayton takes over the second spot followed by Marshfield Columbus, Suring and Green Lake in the top five. Racine Lutheran and Monticello continue to fly a bit under the radar in 7th and 8th respectively. As has been the tradition this year, the bottom third or so of the poll had plenty of turnover, as Newman, Goodman, and Potosi all dropped out in favor of Benton, Luck, and Almond-Bancroft.
