Two players who grew up playing their high school ball in Wisconsin were selected in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Tyler Jones (Milwaukee Marquette HS) of Madison College and Kurtis Muller (Sun Prairie HS) of the University of Iowa were selected in the 21st and 22nd round respectively.

Jones posted a 9-2 record with a 3.01 ERA to help Madison College to the NJCAA Division II World Series. The sophomore right-hander struck out 77 in just 74 2/3 innings of work. He was chosen by the Chicago White Sox with the 638th overall pick.

Muller led the Hawkeyes with a .381 batting average while socking three home runs and knocking in 36. He also stole 30 bases. The junior outfielder was picked by the Cincinnati Reds with the 667th overall pick.

Both players are competing with the Madison Mallards this summer in the Northwoods League.

The Tuesday portion of the MLB Draft covered Rounds 2 through 30, and the Draft will resume Wednesday and cover Rounds 31 through 50. More Wisconsin players are expected to be chosen. Several may have been picked already if not for solid collegiate commitments. Stay tuned to WSN for the latest.
