Sectional baseball action gets underway bright and early Tuesday, with some games starting as early as 9:30 am. Sectionals are set up so that each site hosts three games in one day:  two sectional semi-final games with one following the other, and then a sectional final a short time later.

Click on the divisional heading below to see the full brackets for that particular division.

Division 1 notes

-- River Falls created quite a stir when the 9th-seeded Wildcats upset top-seeded Eau Claire North 3-2 in the regional final last Friday. But as the saying goes, it is hard to beat the same team three times, something the Huskies would have to do to advance.

-- Ashwaubenon and Green Bay Southwest tied for the FRCC title (along with Bay Port, who is the top seed in Sectional #2), and the two league foes will square off for a rubber match of the season series after splitting a doubleheader back on May 15th.

-- Middleton and La Crosse Central seemed to be on a collision course last season until Onalaska pulled an upset of the Red Raiders in the sectional semi-finals before falling to Middleton. The two powerhouse programs are once again on opposite sides of the Sectional #3 bracket, and will need to avoid upset bids from DeForest and Waunakee respectively to face off in the sectional final.

-- Kimberly was ranked #1 in the state in Division 1 late in the season but four losses in less than a week sent the Papermakers tumbling down the poll. They're still the top seed in Sectional #4 and will face a scrappy De Pere team featuring Mikole Pierce (pictured) in the sectional semi-final.

-- Wisconsin Lutheran finished second in the Wisconsin Little Ten conference this year but still received the top seed in Sectional #7 The Vikings will face league foe Hartford in the first matchup Tuesday as the winner moves on to face the winner of a Milwaukee City Conference showdown between Bradley Tech and Rufus King.

-- Waterford is the only underdog (at least according to seeding) to advance to the sectionals over in Sectional #8, as the 7th-seeded Wolverines knocked off #10 Racine Horlick and #2 Wilmot so far in the playoffs.

-- 12th-seeded Fort Atkinson is the Cinderella of the Division 1 brackets so far after topping 5th-seeded Stoughton 3-1 in the opening round and 4th-seeded Verona 4-3 in the regional final.

-- The Oshkosh schools are well-represented in Sectional #6 after advancing to face one another at 1 pm in Beaver Dam on Tuesday. Both were upset winners in the regional final, as 6th-seeded West knocked off 3rd seed Sheboygan South and 7th-seeded Oshkosh North dominated 2nd-seeded Sun Prairie 8-0.

Division 2 notes

-- Both Mauston and Prairie du Chien faced conference rivals in their first two games of the playoffs, and will probably welcome the opportunity to take on someone outside their own league. The two will meet in a Sectional #3 semi-final in Evansville.

-- On the other side of the Evansville sectional, Madison Edgewood is the defending state champion and claimed a regional title despite being seeded third. They'll face Beloit Turner in the semi-final. Edgewood will turn to Kyle Haen (pictured) amongst other hitters to produce runs.

-- Xavier and Waupun both advanced as top seeds in the upper half of the Mayville sectional and will square off at 11 am Tuesday. The same can be said for University School and Racine Lutheran/Prairie, except their game will begin at approximately 1:30 following the Xavier-Waupun matchup.

-- Amery finished just 5-9 in the Middle Border this year and received a 3 seed in their regional, but the Warriors have gotten hot at the right time, winning three straight to advance to the sectional semi-final, including a 4-2 victory over Cumberland.

-- #3 Saint Croix Falls and #2 Altoona will square off in the bottom half of the Prescott sectional where the two #1 seeds (Ellsworth and Bloomer) were upset.

-- Top seeds Medford and Seymour advance to face each other in the upper portion of the Chilton sectional, while West De Pere and Denmark will do the same in the bottom half. West De Pere won the state title two years ago and finished the 2010 regular season #1 in the final WBCA Coaches Poll.

Division 3 notes

-- La Crosse Aquinas certainly feels like they have some unfinished business after allowing Marathon to score three runs in the top of the seventh to win in last year's D3 state semi-final. The Blugolds will take on Lancaster in the first game of the Marshall sectional. Lancaster advanced thanks to a 5-0 win over Boscobel after beating top seed and Division 3's top-ranked team Mineral Point earlier.

-- Top seeds Parkview and Watertown Luther Prep will square off in the bottom half of the Marshall sectional.

-- Pardeeville has yet to play a standard seven-inning game in the playoffs; the Bulldogs won 13-3 in 5 innings over Montello in their first game and went 8 innings to defeat Poynette 8-7 in the regional final. They'll take on Winnebago Lutheran, who won both games in 5-inning run rule fashion, in the sectional semi-final.

-- Martin Luther knocked off defending state champion and top-seeded Kenosha St. Joe's in an extra innings 3-2 thriller in the regional final. They'll face Palmyra-Eagle in the second Oakfield sectional semi-final.

-- 5th-seeded Grantsburg defeated the #4, #1, and #2 seeded teams to claim their regional crown and will face top-seeded Hurley next.

-- #2 Elk Mound and #3 Neillsville will square off in the bottom half of the Osseo-Fairchild sectional that saw top seeds Osseo-Fairchild and Stanley-Boyd get bounced early.

-- Marathon has advanced to the state title game the last two seasons, winning it all in 2008. They'll face Crandon in the top half of the Pacelli sectional while Bonduel and Reedsville will square off in the other game.

Division 4 notes

-- Brookwood and De Soto swapped places in the Ridge & Valley and Scenic Bluffs conferences several years ago, and the two schools will meet up in the top half of the Potosi sectional.

-- Top-seeded Potosi and 2nd-seeded Southwestern will meet in the bottom half of the Potosi sectional as Southwestern's Scott Freiburger (pictured) will look to add to his impressive home run total.

-- 3rd-seeded Saint Mary Central upset the #1 and #2 seeded teams to claim their regional crown (including defending D4 champion Marion) and will take on a Green Lake team that was ranked #1 at one point this year.

-- Lake Country Lutheran will face Catholic Central in the second game at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids.

-- Luck has certainly not relied on luck to advance in the playoffs, winning 13-0 over 2nd-seeded Shell Lake and 15-4 over top-seed Northwood. They'll meet Mellen as they go for three playoff wins in a row.

-- Spring Valley and McDonell Central will meet in the second game of the Bruce sectional. McDonell Central features Andy Davis (pictured), who can make a difference from the mound or at the plate.

-- Greenwood and Athens both advanced as top seeds in the top half of the Abbotsford sectional, and the winner of that game will take on the winner of Rosholt and Pembine/Goodman.
