Year: Senior

Favorite subject: Gym



Position: Shortstop



I got my start in sports: watching my dad play. I started playing tee-ball in kindergarten and haven t played anything else. I play baseball in the winter, too.



Baseball highlights: Three-time letterwinner and three-year starter at shortstop … earned all-conference honorable mention as a senior … earned all-conference second-team honors as a junior.



2009 stats: batted .357 (30-for-84) with five doubles, two home runs, 25 runs scored and 16 RBI ... drew six walks and six hit-by-pitches, had three stolen bases with a .433 on-base percentage and a .488 slugging percentage



2009 team highlights: The Lancers won WIAA Division 3 state championship, finishing with an 19-9 record, including a 10-4 record in Midwest Classic South Conference play to earn a share of the league title.



2010 update: batting .423 (33-for-78) with six doubles, 24 runs scored and 15 RBI ... has 11 walks and two stolen bases with a .494 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage ... Lancers have a 14-9 record and finished 10-5 and in third place in Midwest Classic South Conference play.



This and that: born in Waukegan, Ill. … lives in Illinois and commutes to Kenosha daily … transferred to St. Joseph s as a sophomore … has played baseball in Italy and Germany and played in tournaments in Texas, Florida, Kentucky and Michigan … volunteer work includes youth baseball coach, teacher s aide in Milwaukee schools, lawn care for elderly members of the community … has played with Racine Hitters and McHenry (Ill.) summer traveling baseball teams.

Baseball namesake: When we went to Italy to play baseball when I was in eighth grade, players on

the other teams thought I was the son of Pedro Martinez, the Major League pitcher. They were intimidated until I went out to play shortstop and they were relieved. But I did win the batting title in that tournament.



I drive: a 2000 Toyota Corolla

I like St. Joseph High School because: my friends and hanging out with them..

Fantasy: play baseball in the Major League



My perfect day: hanging out at the beach



Hobbies: playing baseball, swimming, going to movies, trips to Wisconsin Dells



Post-high school plans: attend Concordia-Chicago to study business and play baseball.

Outlook on life: "Don t let your teammates down."



Did you know? I traveled with a Junior Olympics baseball team to Rome to play in a baseball tournament when I was in eighth grade.
