"Dugout Chatter" is a behind the scenes look at your favorite prep baseball player.

Name: Bryce Bellin

School: Kimberly

Year: Senior

GPA: 3.94

Favorite subjects: mathematics, physics

Position: Pitcher/First Base

Other sports: basketball

I got my start in sports: hitting off a pitching machine and a tee in my backyard when I was four years old.

Baseball highlights: Three-time letterwinner and three-year starter at pitcher and first base … as a junior, he earned Fox Valley Association first-team honors at pitcher … also earned Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association honorable mention All-District honors and WBCA Academic All-State honors … earned all-conference first-team honors as a pitcher as a sophomore and freshman … Kimberly won the WIAA Division 1 state title his freshman year, was state runner-up his sophomore year and a state quarterfinalist his junior year … two-time Fox Valley Association champions his sophomore and junior years.

2009 stats: hit .318 (21-for-66) with four doubles, one triple, 15 runs scored and 14 RBI and a .409 slugging percentage … pitching stats: 7-1 record and a 2.93 earned run average in 49 innings with 46 strikeouts … nine games pitched, including three complete games.

2009 team highlights: Papermakers won Fox Valley Association title with a 16-2 record and finished 22-5 overall … lost in WIAA Division 1 state quarterfinals.

Other sports honors: Two-time letterwinner in basketball at guard as a reserve as a junior and starter as a senior … earned defensive team all-conference honors as a senior.

This and that: played for Midwest Blazers summer team the past two summers … played fall baseball for the Midwest Blazers his junior year and for the Cincinnati Reds traveling team his senior year … member of Promisemakers and Connection Crew … member of High Honor Roll throughout high school.

I like playing baseball because: as a pitcher you have control and a stake in the outcome. I like having the pressure on me to make a good pitch, to get a ground ball and to be in control.
