Favorite subject: mathematics

Position: Catcher

Other sports: volleyball, football

I got my start in sports: playing tee-ball when I was three years old. I started playing basketball in first grade, football in fourth grade and volleyball my senior year.

I wish I could play: tennis.

Baseball highlights: Four-time letterwinner and three-year starter … co-captain, all-area honorable mention, all-Big Eight Conference first-team and All-City first-team as a senior … honorable mention all-conference as a junior.

2009 stats: Batted .406 (26-for-64) with three runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI in 21 games played … drew 13 walks and had six hit-by-pitches … had .609 slugging percentage and .542 on-base percentage.

Other sports highlights: played football as a freshman and volleyball his senior year … was a co-captain and starting setter in volleyball as a senior … also earned team s Field General award and Assist Leader award as a senior.

Hobbies: hunting, fishing, coaching in East Madison Little League program, playing American Legion baseball for five years, youth baseball and softball coaching for St. Peter s Church

Team bonding moment: We took a trip to the Metrodome in Minneapolis to play Oregon in a non-conference game on April 4. We stayed overnight and got to play baseball and bond together.

Baseball superstitions: I used to buy new batting gloves when I was in a slump.

I like playing baseball because: of the team aspect and anybody can win on any given day.

Did you know? Jake won a free throw shooting contest at the Elk s Lodge when he was 10 years old. He hit 12 home runs in the East Madison Little League when he was 12.
