There s trouble in Paradise!

And there was trouble on the WSN site today and tonight. I would imagine that several thousand people tried to get on the site today and browse/click around to see what new information was on there but couldn t get on. A glitch in the programming I guess. I m no computer whiz, and I m the first to admit that, but I know I couldn t get there either. It appeared at 8 PM tonight that things had improved but the home page of the softball page was different. I don t have anything to do directly with the looks of the site – I m only in charge of the softball content.

Former Ashland High School standout and now a Northland standout, Karen Harnisch was named the UMAC Player of the week again and went a combined 12-for-19 in six games last week, recording at least one hit in each contest.  Her week's line included four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI while the sophomore produced a 1.316 slugging percentage. For the season, Harnisch is batting .500 with four home runs and 27 RBI.

Little Chute is having a good season as they are 9-1 in the Eastern Valley Conference.

Oakfield is 8-0 on the season and is atop the D-3 statewide rankings.

Wayland grabbed its first conference win of the season today as they beat Living Word Lutheran in 6 innings with a score of 10-0.  Megan Connell was the winning pitcher earning a no-hit victory.  And although the Big Red got off to a slow start, they really got the offensive effort going after the third inning.  Megan Connell got her first home run of the season as she hit the ball out of the park.  Wayland is now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Wayland Academy  0 0 0 3 5 2   10runs  9hits  0errors

Maki Ronk losing pitcher, Heryet catcher - 6.33 IP, 10 runs, 9 ER, 6 K, 5 BB,

Here is line score from the River Ridge vs Highland game on Tuesday. River Ridge s Cari Mergen fanned 16. Highland s Laci Pustina fanned 14 and allowed just two hits in absorbing the loss.

River Ridge ................... 030 000 0    3  2  0

Highland ..........-............ 000 100 0    1  3  1

WP: Cari Mergen, 7 IP; 16 SO; 2 W

LP – Laci Pustina, 7 IP, 14 SO;

Leading Hitter: Holly White (RR) 1-3,  3 RBI;

2B: White (RR), Pustina (H), Hebgen (H)

In the River Ridge second, the #4 batter, Trinity Breuer, walked. That was followed by a sacrifice bunt by Ashlee Kirshbaum.  Cari Mergen walked and Sam Jung hit a slow roller to first and the first sacker tried for third instead of taking the out at first base which lead to loading the bases. The #8 batter was retired and and the #9 batter, second sacker Holly White, hit a three run double to right center.

I ve been working very hard on the Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree schedule for May 2nd and 3rd. I had a hold-up when several teams requested special consideration and when I learned that another team was planning on playing in the event and I couldn t find proof of that. The Friday schedule is complete as long as that school in question isn t looking for Friday games.

Hey, I haven t heard about any crazy plays or situations where crazy things happened or rule interpretations were called into question. Those things usually filled my mailbox the past few years but not one has come in yet. Let me know about those plays so I can tell everyone else about them.

That s about it for tonight.

Have a great day and

Keep it Rising!

Bob
