It s a rainy night here!Hello Again Everyone – The traffic on the wissports website has been building and building and is really exciting. Keep telling all your fastpitch friends about the site and keep urging all the coaches to post their results there. Coaches, of course do not have to do the computer work, anyone associated with the program can do it. Just contact me for an account or e-mail to info@wissports.net to get one.

Here is an update on a former Wisconsin high school player from Brodhead. Kate Earleywine just pitch both games of a double-header without giving up a run. She struck out 15 in the first game (12 inn) and 8 in the second game. She became Loras College's all-time leader in strike outs, she is only a sophomore.

WFSCA members are reminded that the deadline to submit seniors for consideration for the all star games is April 25th. Of course, you had to be a paid up member by March 29th in order to nominate a player from your team.

I ll be nominating our catcher at Poynette, Madeline Dugolenski who went 3x3 last night with a single, double, triple and two rbi and died in the on deck circle when the game ended. Maybe she would have been the first-ever Poynette player to hit for the cycle with an automatic home run. We ve had several over the years hit for the cycle before softball fields had outfield fences.

Here are a few other highlights from Monday action around the state: Tieraney Planasch of Dodgeland tossed a complete game (7 innings) no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks. She ll be getting a Fastpitch Chronicle/WSN award certificate for her gem. Congratulations Tieraney!

Michelle Jones of Madison LaFollette twirled a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks. That was against Madison West.  There will be a certificate for her as well.

River Ridge pitcher Cari Mergen fanned 16 in a win over Boscobel on Monday while teammate Trinity Breuer went 3x4 with two runs scored and a pair of rbi. (Any relation to Weyauwega-Fremont Head Coach Todd Breuer who hails from River Ridge?).

Rosholt won big and their pitcher Chelsea Richter fanned 14 in five innings and went 4x5 with two doubles, scored three runs and had three rbi.

In Bonduel, Amherst s Kate Glodowski tossed a five-inning no-hitter.

Highland pitcher Laci Pustina threw a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts at Shullsburg. She also went 2x5 with a triple. Some other Highland highlights included Carlee Yanna going 3x5, Rachel Eggers went 3x5 with a triple, Rachel Aide 3x4 with a triple, Kendall Wienkes 3x4 with a double.

I was able to pick up the highlights off the new Report page on the new website. Nicholas really came through for us. You can click on the reports and any game reports that are posted on the game reporting pages get automatically posted to the Reports page. IMHO, every school in the state needs an account to report games so every kid in the state who deserves mentioning has a chance to get mentioned.

Tonight s scoring Question for you – Runner at first. She takes off on a steal attempt. Batter swings on hit and run play and the ball hits the runner before the second sacker has a chance to make a legitimate play on the ball. The runner is out. How do you score that?

Answer – Defensive player closest to the runner that was hit by the ball is credited with an unassisted putout. The batter is given a single (see Rule 9, Section 3, Article 2, b – A base hit is credited to a batter when the batter-runner advances to first base safely:

b) without liability of being put out because a runner is declared out for being hit by the batted ball (8-1-2a), or the umpire is hit by a batted ball (5-1-1f).

That play took place in our game last night on the road. The opposing scorekeeper did not credit the Poynette batter with a safe hit, however.
