Madison LaFollette - Head Coach-Heather Fish 2nd Year;Assistant Coach-Lisa Schueler 2nd Year

LaFollette returns seven players from last years team that qualified for the State Tournament.  After a less than mediocre Big Eight Conference record last year, the team is focused and determined to do better this year in conference play.  An experienced battery leads the way with Michelle Jones (Jr.) returning as pitcher and Hayly Brockman (Jr.) behind the plate.  First baseman Kendra Shillinglaw (Sr.), second baseman Kim Thom (Sr.), and center fielder Kristin Shafer (Sr.) are looking to provide the senior leadership that the team needs.  The 2008 LaFollette Fastpitch team is dedicated to continually working hard, staying mental tough, and putting forth the extra effort needed to make another post-season run!

The Big 8 is as balanced and as strong as it has ever been. The statewide rankers have three of the teams ranked or getting votes - Madison LaFollette, Middleton and Madison Memorial. Junior pitcher Michelle Jones has improved tremendously over the winter and will lead LaFollette after leading the Lancers to the state tournament in 2007.

Madison Memorial -Coach Patrick Joyce, 5th Year - After losing All Conference Outfielder Christina Valdes to graduation (Boston University-Academics), the Spartans return 5 All Conference players...2nd Team Pitcher, Senior Lexie Johnson, Senior Kadijha Marquardt-Davis-Honorable Mention, First Teamers and all Juniors---Lindsey Umberger at short, Jackie Koykkar at second and Kristen Selbach behind the plate. We have 8 of 9 returning starters from a team that made it to sectionals last year. The team wasn't satisfied with their 18-5 record from last year. They are determined to improve and work harder this year.

Janesville Craig - Coach Dan Bayreuther, 18th Year - Assistants: John McGinniss, Nicole Zellmer and Gary Schieve - Janesville Craig returns six starters (Abby Geiger, Kelly Lyke, Brianne Gohlke, Anna Fagerli, Jillynn Mortensen and Gabrielle Cassady) from last year but is without 3 year starting pitcher Mandy Smith for seven games. Craig looks for Junior Audrey Freeman and Freshman Bailie Whittaker to handle the pitching duties. Other players working hard for playing time are: Whitney Oliver, Felicia Zajicek, Whitney Storbakken, Chelsea Smith and Abby Sullivan.
