Luxemburg-Casco - Head Coach Tom Giachino - Head Coach Tom Giachino - LC will look to seniors Gina Rubens(SS, 2nd team all-conference), Sammy Mercier(OF, conference HM) and Danielle Mleziva(1st base) for leadership and consistency. Each senior is a returning starter dating back to their sophomore year. Returning pitcher, sophomore Kalli Schmelzer, received honorable mention in the Packerland Conference as a freshman. She walked 22 and struck out 93 in 97.1 innings last year and has a no-hitter to her credit. Kalli picked up two wins at the Poynette Jamboree last year! Schmelzer will be throwing to both Karli Woracheck and Brittany Skarda as the team has outstanding depth at catcher. A third returning starting infielder is sophomore Mariah Mleziva who will be at third this season. Leadoff hitter Steffi Kinnard(junior, .268 batting average) returns to that spot after steadily improving last year. The outfield will have Mercier, Missy Mleziva, Cassi Jacobs, Nicole Bruening and Sara Streckenbach competing for starting spots. Jennifer Champeau provides depth on the infield and in the pitching circle. Talented freshman pitcher Danielle Deterville will be throwing on both the JV s and varsity this year.

New London - Coach (year): Tony Porath (14th) and Laura Turner (first)

Top prospects: Brittany Beyer, Sr., SS; Christina Moore, Sr., 2B; EmilyConat, Sr., P/OF; Leah Pluff, Jr., P; Ashley Sampone, So., 3B; Ely Okrasinski, Sr., 1B; Niki Euhardy, Fr., C; Hailee Paul, Sr., OF.

Outlook: The defending Bay Conference champion Bulldogs must rebuild after graduating seven starters, including mainstays like Melinda Wulf, a four-year starter and the Bay's player of the year, and three-year starters Andrea Flease and Brooke Sampone. New London has a pair of outstanding players back to anchor the middle of the infield in Beyer

and Moore. Beyer, a first-team all-conference selection, hit a team-high .451, while Moore compiled a .364 average. Pluff, a hard-throwing right-hander, is New London's No. 1 pitcher but must improve her control. Conat doesn't throw as fast but is more consistent. Porath runs a solid program, and even though New London won't be the powerhouse it

had been in recent years, the Bulldogs should remain a winner. Coach's comment: "It's going to be different. We're very, very young and inexperienced. The last two seasons, we lost a lot of starting seniors." — Porath.
