Sharon McLaughlin has been named as the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Madison East High School.  She was chosen to replace former East coach Emily Glenn, who resigned after 3 seasons at East.

McLaughlin has a rich history of both playing and coaching volleyball at this level.  She currently is the coach for the Wisconsin Performance Volleyball Club 13 National team and 17 Regional Team.  She is also the coach of the Capital Volleyball Academy 16 Force Team.  Prior to coming to Wisconsin, McLaughlin got her Law degree from The University of Idaho.

While at Idaho, she was the middle blocker on the club team.  After completing college, she went to Richmond, Michigan, where she was an assistant Freshmen Volleyball coach.  In High School, McLaughlin was a star Volleyball, Track and Basketball player.  She still holds her school record in the 4*100 in track.  For Volleyball, she racked up Conference MVP, First team and second team, as she lettered for two seasons as an outside hitter.

"I'm excited to be at East", McLaughlin said. "Hopefully we can continue building this program and getting volleyball's into the hands of the younger kids that feed into East High School."

East brings back Middles Sonja Burnson and Nyakour Deang, from a team that finished 7-13 overall and tied for 7th in the Big Eight conference, with a 3-6 record.
