The beautiful weather may have had something to do with it, but several quarterbacks from around the state showed off their true mid-season form this week as 10 passers threw for over 300 yards. The aerial onslaught of those quarterbacks earned this week's Splash of the Week.

Leading the state in Week 7 was a pair of Fox Valley Association quarterbacks, as Oshkosh West's Austin Leichtnam and Menasha's Luke Smith each threw for 382 yards. Leichtnam went 20-for-32 with four touchdowns in a 35-10 win over Kaukauna, while Smith was 11-for-20 with a pair of TDs to spoil Fond du Lac's homecoming 56-35. Speaking of the Fond du Lac, Cardinals quarterback Joey Schroeder didn't disappoint either as he was 23-for-35 with 357 yards and four touchdowns. Between Smith and Schroeder, there was almost 750 passing yards on the night and be sure to check out the video portion of our site this week for the highlights from that game.

McDonell Central and Marathon played a similar shootout Saturday, with Macks QB Kyle Cody tossing three touchdowns on 20-for-39 passing in a 44-34 Marawood Conference victory. Red Raiders signal caller Collin Seubert was equally impressive, going 15-for-24 and passing for 312 yards and two TDs.

Shawn Shillcox from Two Rivers was 16-for-24 with 360 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders knocked off New Holstein 43-29, while Sun Prairie's Tyler Patterson totaled 10 fewer yards on one fewer attempt (16-for-23, 350 yards) with five touchdowns in a 62-22 blowout over Madison East.

Greendale's Sam Brick, St. Croix Central's Kyle Cress and Franklin's Lance Baretz also eclipsed the 300-yard mark. Brick was 14-for-26 with 329 yards in a 52-21 stomping of Woodland-Black second-place Whitnall, Cress was 22-for-37 with 317 yards and two scores in a similar 52-26 victory over Colfax, while Baretz was a perfect 13-for-13 with 312 yards and four TDs in a win over Racine Park.

Week 7 marked the first time this season 10 players have thrown for 300 yards and eclipsed Week 9's record of eight 300-plus-yard passers in 2008.
