Northwestern Wisconsin beware-- Carley Emery is on a mission. The Siren senior guard has absolutely torched opponents this young season with some deadly shooting from the field, as the state's current leading scorer earned this week's Splash of the Week.

Friday Siren opened the West Lakeland Conference slate against last year's fellow co-champion and heated rival Luck, where Emery dropped 35 against the Cardinals in a hard-fought, 63-48 victory. In that game Emery sunk five of Siren's 10 3-pointers (interestingly, Carley's younger cousin Raven made the other five) as the Dragons launched 43 shots from behind the arc.

The 35-point effort wasn't too surprising this season, as Emery had tallied 33 points in a 70-point season-opening victory over Shell Lake, then added 40 against Clear Lake in another 78-29 blowout victory prior to Friday. In those three games combined, she has made 16 3-poitners and tallied 108 points, or a 36 points-per-game average.

Emery reached the 1,000-point plateau early last season, and this season has her sights set on doubling that feat. with 1,496 career points so far, Emery is already among the Lakeland's leading all-time scorers and could crack the all-time state scoring list by the end of the season.

Honorable Mention

Statewide Boys Hockey Hat Tricks: Even with an abbreviated weekend of hockey action, six different players recorded hat tricks last week alone. Tuesday, Bay Port/Pulaski sophomore Drew Cleerman netted four goals in a win over Manitowoc while brother Dillon Cleerman added three in the very same game to pick up the co-op's only win of the year so far. Burnett Blizzard junior Anthony Dietmeier also put away three goals in a win over Barron Tuesday. Friday, Madison Eastside senior Russell Carpenter and Notre Dame sophomore Brandon Walls each recorded a hat trick, while Triton teammate Austin Veith added one of his own on Saturday in one of the few games played.

Platteville Boys Basketball: The Hillmen beat Division 5  No. 2-ranked Benton and Division 3 No. 15 River Valley last week to improve to 4-1 on the season-- their best start since the 2001-02 season. Senior forward Tyler Ware had 18 points against the Zephyrs and 25 points and nine rebounds against the Black Hawks, while senior guard Ryan Rako also added 10 and eight points in respective matchups. Platteville's only loss of the season came to Sauk Prairie in the season debut, 53-51 after nearly erasing a 12-point halftime deficit.

Ashley Bauer, Marshfield: The Tigers go-to goal-tender has been stellar in the Tigers' first five games of the season, as Bauer has given up just two goals on 58 total shots. That save percentage of 96.6 ranks as one of the top in the state, keping pace with Great Northern league rival and last year's Goalie of the Year Hillary Drake.

Ben Brooke, Viroqua: The senior forward tallied 38 points against Coulee rival Luther Thursday evening in the Blackhawks' 74-48 victory. Though perhaps most amazingly, it's the second time he's accomplished that feat, kicking off the season with exactly 38 in a blowout victory over Reedsburg.
