Week 1 WSN/WBCA Coaches Poll

The Week 7 poll in almost every division looks very similar to the Week 6 poll, especially since not a single top five team from Week 6 lost in Week 7. Coming off the holiday break, many teams either had eased back into action with non-conference games or were fortunate to not have tough conference contests right away. Remember, in addition to the Coaches Poll you can also check out Team Stats, winning percentage and RPI by clicking here.

Division 1

Milwaukee King remains on top of the Division 1 Coaches Poll, with fellow unbeaten Appleton East right behind at #2. Minor shuffling saw De Pere flip-flop with Madison Memorial into the #3 spot, while Germantown rounds out the top five. Former #6 Marshfield suffered its first defeat of the season at the hands of D.C. Everest and dropped out of this week's rankings. Arrowhead snuck back in the poll at #14 while the Beloit Purple Knights narrowly hold onto the #15 spot after falling to Milwaukee Marquette, who re-enters the poll at #13.

Division 2

Onalaska remains in the top spot, as they have all season. Waunakee moved ahead of Monroe once again to the #2 spot, with the two teams on a collision course for the Badger Crossover Challenge next weekend. New Richmond remains #4 while Wisconsin Lutheran flip-flopped with Seymour to move into the #5 spot. New Berlin Eisenhower, Wauwatosa East, and Monona Grove are in the rankings this week after just missing out in Week 6. The Silver Eagles of MG have now won four in a row.

Division 3

Racine St. Catherine's is still a heavy favorite in the Division 3 rankings, although there was some minor shuffling in the spots following the Angels. Roncalli nudged ahead of Aquinas at #2 while Dominican moved up from #7 to #6, causing Brillion to dip from #6 to #8 after a hard-fought three-point loss against Roncalli last week. Lodi, Mauston, and Little Chute dropped out of this week's poll, with Winneconne, Kiel, and Lake Mills returning. Division 3 is shaping up to be perhaps the most competitive division in the state, with a number of elite level teams and many that are more than capable of making deep playoff runs.

Division 4

Blair-Taylor continues to hold down the top position in Division 4, with Racine Lutheran, Marathon, and Oostburg close behind. Amherst moved just ahead of Regis to the #5 position, with the Ramblers coming in at #6 this week. The bottom third of the D4 poll was chaotic, with every team from #10 to #15 (except #14 Spring Valley) losing a game last week. Cameron (from #11 to #12) and Auburndale (#12 to #13) were the only ones to hang in the rankings. New teams this week include 9-1 Peshtigo, who enters at #10, along with #14 Ozaukee and #15 Bonduel. Speaking of Bonduel, they host #6 Amherst this evening in a match-up of teams undefeated in the CWC-8.

Division 5

Like all of the other divisions, while no top five teams lost, there was some minor shuffling. Randolph remains on top in near unanimous fashion, followed once again by Benton, Sheboygan Lutheran, and Suring. At #5, Green Bay NEW Lutheran had moved just ahead of Prentice. Luck, Royall, and Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, who has not played a game in exactly one month, dropped out of this week's rankings, to be replaced by Columbus Catholic, Goodman, and Hillsboro. Sheboygan Lutheran is entering a tough stretch of games, taking on D4's #14 team Ozaukee on Thursday then traveling to D4's #3 Oostburg next Tuesday followed by a trip to a tough Cedar Grove-Belgium team next Friday.
