A couple of high profile high school basketball events take place this weekend and kickoff a busy month of January for teams across the state.
 
The inaugural Midwest Players Classic is set for Saturday at the La Crosse Center while the NY2LA Extravaganza is slated for Saturday at Nicolet High School.
 
Later this month, the Brandon Jennings Invitational, the East Metro Showcase and the Wisconsin vs. Minnesota Border Battle are set to take place at various locations in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
