Girls Hoops Regional Wrap: First round in the books

03/09/2011, 9:00am CST
By Jay Messar

Tuesday's opening round of the 2010-11 girls basketball regionals is officially in the books-- in this case, more like the TV Guide. While several of the 7 p.m. games were tipping off, Fox's popular 2-hour block of Glee, Raising Hope and Traffic Light may have fallen upon several empty households. Well fret not, Gleeks, we'll do our best to make sure to pay homage to your favorite string of shows as we recap the night's statewide girls hoops action.

Glee (7 p.m.)

Hudson will be singing a happy song on its long bus ride home as the Raiders made its 2 hour, 45-minute drive completely worth it by playing 12 extra minutes before upsetting D.C. Everest in triple overtime, 62-61. Webster, while technically winning by six points over Glenwood City, needed an overtime to knock off the Hilltoppers 62-56 on the road and Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran survived Gibraltar 44-39 in overtime as well. The following list of teams that are singing a gleeful tune after surviving a barnburner (by fewer than five points) Tuesday night to advance to the regional semifinal round.
