The overall depth of Division 4 this season was further evidenced by the lack of unanimous individual WBCA All-State selections. Nonetheless, a very impressive group of 12 made the final cut as D4 First Team members in arguably the most competitive division in the state.

The First Team consisted of Taylor Bahr, Sr., Shoreland Lutheran; Heather Bowe, Jr., Regis; Jenna Engh, Sr., Westby; Katelynne Folkers, Sr., Fall Creek; Jenni Gust, Sr., Colfax; Karissa LeCaptain, Jr., Algoma; Alexis Lindstrom, Jr., Howards Grove; Lexy Petermann, Jr., Oshkosh Lourdes; Breland Prochaska, Jr., Fennimore; Quinn Rear, Sr., Belleville; Taylor Schmidt, So., Algoma and Stefanie Siroin, Jr., Washburn.

Bahr’s size paired with her perimeter capabilities has wreaked havoc on opponents all season, evidenced by her 15.7 points per game average this season. The 6-0 senior forward and 1,000-point scorer led the Pacers to their third straight 20-win season, including a sectional final berth this season, as well as a combined 44-4 Midwest Classic Conference mark over the past three seasons.

Bowe was one of the first from the Class of 2012 to verbally commit to a Division I program, the University of Wisconsin, as a sophomore last season. This year the 6-0 junior post player has not disappointed, averaging 17 points, 8.2 rebounds, and almost two steals a game. Unafraid to defend in the open floor, she is also quite comfortable with her back to the basket and is relentless on the offensive glass.

Engh finally made the push that Westby had been looking for in seasons past—the Norse won their first Coulee Conference crown in undefeated fashion and qualified for their first ever state tournament semifinal this year. The smooth 5-5 point guard was the floor general, leading the team with 15.2 points and 3.5 assists per game.

Folkers has been the Crickets’ main scoring threat for the past few seasons, this year culminating her high school career by leading the team with over 18 points per game—ranking fifth in Division 4. The skilled and athletic 5-8 senior forward also aided Fall Creek to its third consecutive winning season and scored her 1000th point in regional play this year.

Gust was the epitome of versatility this season, using her quickness and leaping ability to play any position for the three-time Dunn-St. Croix Conference champion Vikings.  The 5-10 senior forward led the Colfax scoring threat with 12.3 points, five rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

LeCaptain provided a very difficult matchup for most defenders as a 6-0 post player that runs the floor well and is tenacious on the boards. The long and athletic junior averaged 12.6 points and over six rebounds a game for the Packerland Conference champion Wolves, who earned their first trip to the state tournament since 1986.

Lindstrom finished seventh in Division 4 scoring, averaging 17.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 3.2 assists per game while also shooting an impressive 83 precent from the free throw line.  The 5-7 junior guard led the Tigers to their consecutive 19-win seasons and 15-3 records in the Central Lakeshore Conference.

Petermann was quite the star of the Trailways Confernece this season, leading the Knights to a perfect 15-0 league mark in the North division and 22-3 record overall en route to a sectional semifinal berth. The 6-0 junior averaged 16.1 points, seven rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.7 assists per game.

Prochaska ranked third in Division 4 scoring with 19.8 points per game, while also adding 5.5 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.7 assists per game. The 5-6 junior guard, who also eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring mark this season, led the Golden Eagles to a Southwest Wisconsin Activities League title and second straight 20-win season this year.

Rear was the heart and soul floor leader for the Wildcats, leading the team with 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.8 assists per game this season. The 5-8 senior guard and two-time All-State nominee guided Belleville to consecutive unbeaten Capitol South Conference championships and a 55-6 overall record the past two years.

Schmidt ran the show for the potent Algoma scoring platoon, averaging a team-high 13.5 points and 3.3 assists per game. Also the Packerland Player of the Year, the 5-5 sophomore guided the Wolves to their fourth straight Packerland Conference title, a 25-1 record and berth in the Division 4 state semifinals.

Siroin finished second in Division 4 scoring with 21.5 points per game and was one of the premiere post players in the northern part of the state this season. The 6-2 junior forward also added 8.8 rebounds, four steals, 1.9 assists and a block per game, leading the Castle Guards to a second-place Indianhead Conference finish and 19-5 record this season—its best since 2005.
