Just a few years ago, not too many people outside of the greater Racine area had even heard of her. Two seasons later and after an impressive performance on the state’s greatest stage, Samantha Logic has quickly become a household name. This week, Logic was announced the winner of the 2011 Miss Basketball award presented by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.

Logic, a smooth 5-11 do-everything guard, averaged 14.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game, while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor her senior year alone. In her four years in a Case uniform, the 5-11 do-everything guard scored over 1,200 total points, averaging 14.3 points per game for her high school career.

A two-time Southeast Conference First Team member and two-time league Player of the Year, Logic also garnered unanimous All-State honors her junior and senior years. Add in this year’s WBCA Miss Basketball award and the Case senior’s hard work on the hardwood will etch her as one of Wisconsin’s greatest girls basketball players ever.

Logic was instrumental in leading Case to its first ever state tournament berth in 2010, where the floor general tallied 32 points, seven rebounds and seven steals in a 68-62 quarterfinal loss against juggernaut Milwaukee Vincent.

This season, Logic and her Eagles won their second straight Southeast Conference championship—this year’s coming in undefeated 14-0 fashion—and earned a return trip to a Division 1 quarterfinal. While Case finished one game short of making a return to the Kohl Center this season, Logic tallied a game-high 23 points and five assists while adding three rebounds and three steals in the Eagles’ 70-61 loss to Pius XI.

The Iowa recruit burst onto the national scene last summer and is currently ranked No. 2 at the point guard position and No. 10 overall on ESPN’s HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings of the Class of 2011. Logic officially committed to play for coach Lisa Bluder last fall, choosing the Hawkeyes program over offers from Stanford, Vanderbilt and Marquette.

In addition the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games, held June 17th in Madison, Logic has been named to two prestigious national events.  She will play in the 20th annual Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game on April 2nd at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  She was also a selection to the McDonalds All-American games which are held March 30th at the United Center in Chicago.

The composed, creative Logic possesses the ability to get into the paint and finish at the rim as well as shoot the midrange jumper, making her a formidable offensive threat with ball in hand. She plays a physical style and as some scouts have said, fills the rare “power guard spot.” Also a great passer with a high basketball I.Q., she rebounds very well from the guard position and boasts the overall strength necessary to be successful at the next level.
