The Team of the Week is back again for 2011.  The voting this year is upgraded and is featured at the bottom of the article. Voting is open until Wednesday at 4 p.m., so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.

Barron - Losing is never fun, and Barron had gone through more than its fair share the last few years. In fact, the Golden Bears failed to win a game in 2009 or 2010, and were on a 19-game losing streak heading into Friday night's game at Osceola. That streak is over now however, as the Bears took out their frustrations to the tune of a 48-7 win over the Chieftains. Quarterback Neil Rasmussen had a big game, completing 15 of 23 passes for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ten of those completions went to Austin Haugestuen, who racked up 90 receiving yards and 2 scores.

Manitowoc Lincoln - The Ships faced a difficult early schedule, but have navigated through quite well in the early going. After knocking off Notre Dame in Week 1 in what was officially a non-conference match-up, the Ships hosted an improving Green Bay Southwest team in Week 2. The two teams were picked to finish first and second in the WSN pre-season conference preview, and Manitowoc scored a big early-season win, knocking off D2 7th-ranked Southwest by a final of 27-7. The Ships' defense held Southwest to 154 yards and forced three first-half turnovers.

Shiocton - Shiocton reaffirmed their spot as one of the title contenders in the CWC-8 conference race by dominating two-time defending CWC-10 conference champion Marion/Tigerton Friday night in a non-conference game, 35-0. The Chiefs have long been known for their running game, and it was on full display Friday, as three players went for more than 100 yards:  Hunter Young (197), Talon Heinemeyer (118), and Fred Fielding (111) as all three averaged better than 10 yards per carry.

Waterford - Anytime you beat perennial power Homestead it is a big deal, especially when it is on the road. That's just what Waterford did in Week 2, traveling to the Highlanders' home field and pulling off a 17-15 come from behind win. Waterford led 14-7 at halftime and maintained that lead most of the way. Homestead, ranked third in Division 1, scored with 1:24 left in the game however, and head coach Dave Keel went with trickeration on the extra point, as quarterback Cody Berger executed a fake field goal by running for a two-point conversion. Waterford rallied however, and pulled off the upset when Nick Wirsching connected on a 36-yard field goal with just 6 seconds left, giving the Wolverines a 17-15 victory. It was Homestead's first regular season loss in 42 games dating back to August 31 of 2007 when they went down to Menominee (MI).

West De Pere - The Phantoms are the defending Division 3 champion and pre-season favorites in the division once again for a reason, and they showed why Friday night. In a game pitting the top-ranked team in D3 versus the #2 team, West De Pere rolled over Waupaca 27-7. The defending champs blew open a 7-7 tie game in the fourth quarter as quarterback Jay Tollefson rushed for three touchdowns to help the Phantoms to a 27-7 win. For the game Tollefson had 93 yards rushing with those 3 scores plus 97 passing yards and 1 more touchdown through the air.

Voting is open until Wednesday at 4 p.m., so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.
