The Waterford Wolverines have been selected as the Week 2 WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Waterford surprised Homestead with a last second 17-15 win, ending the Highlanders' lengthy regular season winning streak. The Wolverines were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 2. They received 1005 votes, or 46.3% of the total votes cast, edging runner-up Barron who came in with 39.5%.

Anytime you beat perennial power Homestead it is a big deal, especially when it is on the road. That's just what Waterford did in Week 2, traveling to the Highlanders' home field and pulling off a 17-15 come from behind win. Waterford led 14-7 at halftime and maintained that lead most of the way. Homestead, ranked third in Division 1, scored with 1:24 left in the game however, and head coach Dave Keel went with trickeration on the extra point, as quarterback Cody Berger executed a fake field goal by running for a two-point conversion. Waterford rallied however, and pulled off the upset when Nick Wirsching connected on a 36-yard field goal with just 6 seconds left, giving the Wolverines a 17-15 victory. It was Homestead's first regular season loss in 42 games dating back to August 31 of 2007 when they went down to Menominee (MI).

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 3 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
