The Team of the Week is back again for 2011.  The voting this year is upgraded and is featured at the bottom of the article. Voting is open until Wednesday at 4 p.m., so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.

Brillion - It is not often a pair of defending state champs meet in the regular season. In fact, Brillion and Kewaunee's match-up is believed to be just the third time it's happened in state history. The defending D5 champion Lions turned in a dominating performance over last year's Division 4 titlist Kewaunee on Friday, winning 49-13. Brillion jumped out to a 42-0 lead in the first half before Kewaunee managed a second quarter touchdown. The entire second half featured a running clock, something that is not uncommon at Kewaunee's home stadium, except its usually reserved for the visitors, not the home team. Brillion rushed for 380 yards, including 331 in the first half.

Brookfield East - B'East was one of the state's biggest surprises last season and have kept it up in 2011 under second-year coach Tom Swittel. In a match-up of unbeatens on Friday, the Spartans shutout Menomonee Falls 21-0 to move to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in the Greater Metro. East's defense held Falls to less than 100 total yards, while the offense did it's part as well. Zach Schober rushed for 149 yards and 1 touchdown, while quarterback Bryce Pompos added a pair of short scoring runs and passed for 118 yards in the win.

Lancaster - Don't look now but one of the state's powerhouse programs is back on track and appears to be a strong contender for a deep playoff run. After going "only" 5-5 last season, Lancaster is 4-0 after a 50-34 Week 4 win over previously unbeaten and D4 second-ranked Nekoosa. In a wild back and forth affair, Lancaster jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead and later led 35-20 at halftime. Nekoosa scored the next two touchdowns to close within 35-34, but Lancaster closed the game out with a pair of scores for the win. Trae Mezera (10 carries, 131 yards, 2 touchdowns), Justin Hore (18, 112, 1) and Troy Baker (12, 93, 2) all had outstanding games on the ground. Hore and Kyle Jarrett combined to go 5 of 9 for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns in the air as well. Lancaster currently leads the state in scoring, averaging 56.5 points per game.

Muskego - The Warriors played physical football on Friday and pulled away from Kenosha Tremper for a 34-19 win in a game pitting unbeaten Southeast Conference teams. The Warriors rushed for 410 yards, with Brady Simkowski (214) and Roland Dunlap (201) each eclipsing the 200-yard mark. Muskego broke open a 14-13 game at the end of the third quarter with 20 points in the fourth as they wore down the Tremper defense.

Wausau East - It is without a doubt one of the most unlikely victories we've seen in some time, for a number of reasons, but the Wausau East Lumberjacks pulled off an improbably 22-21 comeback win over D1 4th-ranked Appleton North Friday night. Wausau East had been 0-3, facing an incredibly difficult early schedule that included losses to Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, and Kimberly. Things weren't looking good against North either, as the Lightning led 21-0 at halftime. The turning point came in the third quarter, when East's Cody Smoker blocked a pair of punts; one set up the Lumberjacks' first score when Cody Krentz went in from a yard out and the other was returned by Ben Kleist for an 18-yard touchdown. On the final play of the third quarter the East defense stopped North on a 4th and 2, and Cole Nelson hooked up with Logan Taylor for a 62-yard touchdown a play later. East failed on its last two conversions however, leaving the score at 21-19 in favor of North. Midway through the fourth, Bryce Widmark connected on a 35-yard field goal to put East ahead 22-21, and the defense held on for the win, sealing it with an interception with 1:46 left to cap an incredible comeback.
