Devon Linzenmeyer of Ozaukee has been selected as the Week 4 WSN Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Linzenmeyer entered the record books Friday with a monumental rushing performance in a win over North Fond du Lac. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. Linzenmeyer received 1258 votes, or 47.9% of the total votes cast, pulling away from Kimberly's Alex Schuh, who finished with 27.6% of the vote.

For a few hours Linzenmeyer was thought to have the second-best single game rushing performance in state history before we found out about Kimberly's Alex Schuh, who beat him out by 1 yard. Still, it was an incredible performance by Linzenmeyer, who needed only 18 carries to amass 447 rushing yards to go with 6 touchdowns. He did this all despite carrying the ball just three times in the second half as the Warriors dominated North Fond du Lac 67-33.  He scored on touchdown runs of 95, 66, 58, 58, 50, and 48 yards in the game on his way to averaging an amazing 24.8 yards per carry. His 447 yards is third-best in state history, while the 737 rushing yards Ozaukee accumulated as a team is believed to be an all-time state record.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WSN Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
