Montello/Princeton/Green Lake senior wide receiver Matt Sosinsky has put up big numbers throughout his career, and recently added his name atop one of the state's all-time records.

With three touchdown catches back on September 9th in a win over Oakfield, Sosinsky moved into first place on the career receiving touchdowns list in the state of Wisconsin according to Kevin Patrowsky, who keeps stat records for the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. Sosinsky added a touchdown (along with 15 catches for 131 yards) in a Week 5 loss to Oshkosh Lourdes, giving him 39 for his illustrious career. That passes the previous record of 36 held by former Mosinee standout Kole Heckendorf, who went on to star for North Dakota State and now plays for the Indianapolis Colts.

"The record means a lot to me knowing I will have my name in the record books for hopefully years to come," Sosinsky said Monday night. "I really couldn't have done it without my teammates throughout the years."

Through just five games this season, Sosinsky has totaled 37 catches (#2 in the state) for 578 yards (#3) and 10 touchdowns (#2), with 280 rushing yards and 4 more scores on the ground.

Through Week 5 of this year, he has amassed 169 catches for his career, which places him 7th all-time, and 2853 yards, which places him 2nd. He is just 5 yards behind Wonewoc-Center's Micah Fulton on the yardage list and should pass him this Friday when the Phoenix travel to Horicon.

Sosinsky has a good shot to become just the second state athlete to pass 3,000 career receiving yards, but would need something special to catch Heckendorf's yardage record of 3,831. Still, there is a chance.

"As long as I have a shot, I would love to break the yards record, but the only chance I will have at that is if we have a good playoff run, so winning will definitely be the key to achieving that."

Sosinsky won the state receiving Triple Crown last season, leading all players in receptions (69), receiving yards (1134), and receiving touchdowns (17). He was ranked as the #1 wide receiver in the state in the WisSports.net Class of 2012 rankings and is a three-time first team all-conference selection. In Week 1 last year he caught 8 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 304 yards tied him for fourth-best all-time in state of Wisconsin record books, although he was bumped down to a tie for fifth later in the year when Edgerton's Tyler Obratz totaled 316 yards to move into second place.

Still, despite dominating numbers, Sosinsky did not receive a lot of statewide recognition last year. He was an All-Region pick by the WFCA but just an honorable mention All-State choice. He wasn't even named on the honorable mention list by the Associated Press.

He has begun to receive more attention on the recruiting trail however. He took an unofficial visit to Indiana two weeks ago, and will visit Winona State this weekend and Valparaiso on October 1st. He has also heard from Wisconsin, North Dakota State, and Northern Iowa.
