Football Brackets in Divisions 3 through 7 to be released tonight; D1/2 still be determined

According to Richard Anderson, counsel for Messmer Catholic Schools, the judge in the WIAA-Messmer/Shorewood lawsuit has granted a partial temporary injunction prohibiting the WIAA from releasing playoff brackets for Divisions 1 and 2 until further argument can be heard tomorrow.

However, the parties have agreed to allow the WIAA to release the playoff field and brackets for Divisions 3 through 7. This means our Projected Playoff Field is correct. If Messmer/Shorewood is allowed in the postseason, they would be in Division 1 and Milwaukee Bradley Tech in Division 2. If MessWood is not allowed in, Bradley Tech bumps up to Division 1 and Milwaukee South, who would not be in the playoffs if MessWood is in, would be in Division 2.

"We will come back at 10 am in Judge Martens' courtroom for further arguments," Anderson said.

Anderson added, "The court could order the WIAA to apply it's rules in a more reasonable and fair manner."

This means the court could direct the WIAA to consider Messmer/Shorewood eligible for the playoffs.

"In granting the temporary injunction the court recognized the irreparable harm to the Messmer/Shorewood players and families that would lose out on the playoff opportunities," Anderson added.

"However, Messmer/Shorewood and Coach Drake Zortman understand the impact this delay is having on other teams and we hope to find a resolution to this matter at tomorrows hearing."
