Player of the Week - Week 9: Justin Alexson, Northwestern
Justin Alexson of Northwestern has been selected as the Week 9 WSN Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Alexson came up huge as the Tigers got a win over Ladysmith to clinch a playoff berth. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 9. Alexson received 6578 votes, or % of the total votes cast, outdistancing runner-up Trae Mezera of Lancaster who received 5458 votes, or 40.7%.
It was a winner-take-all game Friday night as Northwestern squared off with Ladysmith. The winner clinched a playoff berth while the loser was eliminated. Alexson ensured the Tigers would continue playing, rushing for 311 yards on 22 carries with 6 touchdowns as they pulled away for a 54-16 win over the Lumberjacks.
