Kenosha Bradford caps unbeaten season with Division 1 state title win over Wisconsin Rapids

A low-scoring but exciting Division 1 state final was sealed when Kenosha Bradford's Carvel Graham broke up a Cort Halbur 4th down pass in the closing seconds to give the Red Devils a 7-0 victory and the program's first state championship.

It was fitting that a defensive play effectively ended the contest, as it was a defensive battle throughout the night. The teams combined for just 377 yards of offense and went a combined 6 of 23 on third-down conversions, and 5 of 14 on fourth downs.

The game's lone score came with 3:51 left in the game, as John Myers capped off Bradford's 11 play, 58-yard drive with a 10 yard scoring scamper.

Rapids had one last gasp however, driving 41 yards on 12 plays down to the Bradford 11 yard line. A pair of incompletions, a false start, and a three-yard loss on a swing pass set up the 4th and 18 play that was broken up by Graham with two seconds remaining on the clock.

The game capped off an exciting two days of football that saw seven teams hoist gold balls as state champions.
