Name: Elliot Ashbeck

School: Marshfield Senior High School

Baseball Honors: Four-year varsity letter winner for coach Mark Zee ... Played outfield, third base, catcher and pitcher during his career … Earned all-league honors in the WVC in each of the past three seasons … First-team pitcher and utility player and a second-team outfielder and pitcher during his prep career.

Favorite Sport: “I would probably say baseball. I love all three, but I am going on to play baseball at the next level. Football and baseball are my two loves, but I really love everything about the game of baseball, the competition of going up against a pitcher and then of being pitcher … I like it a lot.”

Best Part of High School Sports: “The overall competition and getting the chance to compete alongside some of your best friends along the way. It’s something you’ll never get back after high school and it’s something I’ll cherish the rest of my life.”

Best Advice from a High School Coach: “Coach Goettl said it when I was a freshman or sophomore. He saw that I had a lot of potential and told me not to be afraid to succeed. It’s something I took to heart. I always wanted to succeed and I wasn’t afraid to do it.”

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: “My junior year in football we beat Menomonie in a Level Three playoff game at home. I threw for over 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns. We had lost to them in the first game of the season, and beating them to move on to Level Four in front of our home fans was special.”

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: “The best part is always staying busy and being able to compete with your friends. Not having a lot of down time is a plus.”

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: “The toughest part comes during the summer when you try to juggle all three sports and please all the coaches. Between Legion baseball, 7-on-7 football and summer basketball leagues and tournaments, it gets tough. You have to give a little here and there.”

Favorite Opponent: “For football, it’s probably Wisconsin Rapids and Menomonie. Overall I would say Wisconsin Rapids. We’ve had a good rivalry since middle school. The senior classes from both schools have competed well against each other all the way up.”

Favorite College Team: Wisconsin Badgers.

Favorite Professional Teams: Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers.

Cumulative GPA: 4.6 out of 5.0 scale.

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against: “Neico Stokke, the quarterback from Menomonie. We played against each other in sophomore football and tied. We played twice my junior year and we split. And then as a senior, he beat us. We get along really well and he’s a great competitor. It’s a lot of fun to play against him because we are both competitors.”

College Plans: “I’ve accepted a baseball scholarship to Bradley University. I hope to study business administration.”

Activities Outside of Sports: National Honor Society member, tutor sixth graders in math.

I Find it Relaxing to: “Just hang out with my friends and watch a movie or play X Box … just normal, typical 18-year-old Wisconsin activities.”

Favorite TV show: Big Bang Theory.

Favorite Movie: The Hurt Locker.

Favorite Musical Artists: “Drake.”

Favorite Subject: Math.

Favorite Restaurant: Buffalo Wild Wings.

Favorite Websites: www.wissports.net.
