Mike Hartenbach, Oshkosh Lourdes boys basketball – Hartenbach and the #5-ranked Knights pushed their lead in the Trailways-North conference to six games this past week with two close wins over Amherst and Valley Christian.  The senior paced the Knights (13-2, 8-0) on Monday with 18 points, 5 rebounds and two steals in a 47-35 win over the Falcons (10-4, 5-2 Central Wisconsin 8).  His point totals took a hit three days later when Oshkosh Lourdes narrowly-defeated the Warriors 56-52.  Hartenbach totaled just 9 points, but was big on the defensive end with 7 rebounds (9 total) and one steal.

Bailey Karaba, Owen-Withee girls basketball – The Blackhawks (#11 in the latest Division 5 WisSports.net Coaches Poll) lost a crucial game to the leading team in the Cloverbelt-East last week, Neillsville.  In an attempt to stay in contention for the conference title Owen-Withee handled both of their opponents from last week; winning by a combined 61 points.  Karaba was big for the Blackhawks on Monday with a game-high 24 points in a 68-37 victory over Thorp.  She followed that up with a 19-point performance against Loyal on Thursday to put Owen-Withee at 11-2, 7-2 on the season.  The sophomore leads the team in points (16 ppg) and rebounds (7 rpg).

Becca Meade, Hurley girls basketball – The #8-ranked Midgets played only won game last week but that was all the Division 4 team needed to keep themselves atop the Indianhead-East Conference.  Meade and Co.(12-0, 7-0) welcomed the Lakeland Thunderbirds to town this past Tuesday and handled them mightily through the last three quarters to win 72-50.  The 6-foot-2 center came up big with a career-high 23 points, 9 rebounds and an amazing 9 blocked shots.

Hailey Rock, Saint Croix Valley girls hockey – The Saint Croix Valley Fusion split their two games this past week to put them at 14-5 on the season and almost guaranteeing another week at #3 in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll.  Senior forward Hailey Rock was a big reason for the Fusion’s win and close lost last week; totaling six points in the two games.  She scored three goals and dished out two assists in a 5-0 victory over #5 Eau Claire/Altoona on Thursday, and assisted on one of two goals in a 2-4 loss to the top-ranked Central Wisconsin Storm.  She now has 45 points on the year, tied for 4th in the state.
Alex Yde, D.C. Everest boys hockey – The #5-ranked Evergreens were undefeated last week as they only allowed two goals in as many games.  They shut-out Northland pines 3-0 on Tuesday before beating #10 Sun Prairie 7-2 on Friday.  Yde’s four goals through those two games were very important for a team that hasn’t lost since December 29.  His three goals and one assists against Sun Prairie put him over 100 points for his career, just the second person in school history to do so, according to the Wausau Daily Herald.
