Division 1

The beat marches on in Germantown where the Warhawks show no signs of slowing down as the top team in the rankings, a spot they've occupied all season. To make matters worse for their upcoming opopnents, junior forward Luke Fischer is poised to return from injury this week or next. Milwaukee King, Madison Memorial, and De Pere continue to hold down spots two through four, but we have a new team in the #5 position this week. Milwaukee Riverside, playing without several key contributors, lost to Vincent Friday night, dropping the Tigers to #8 this week, one spot ahead of the Vikings. Bay Port moves into the #5 spot, setting up a huge game Friday night as the Pirates travel to De Pere for control of the FRCC. Middleton dropped out of the poll, to be replaced by Mukwonago. The Indians are making their debut in the WSN Coaches Poll this season and head into the second part of February tied atop the Classic Eight Conference with Pius XI.

Division 2

Onalaska and Rice Lake remain the top teams in the Coaches Poll, but there was considerable shuffling elsewhere in the rankings. Whitnall moved slightly ahead of Waunakee for the #3 spot, while former #5 Antigo lost to D.C. Everest last Tuesday in a non-conference game and dip to #6 this week. Surging Kaukauna, winners of six straight including some very close games lately, holds a two-game lead in the loss column in the FVA race and move into the #5 position. A pair of Milwaukee City Conference teams, Morse-Marshall/Juneau and Washington broke into the top ten this week in spots nine and ten respectively. Defending champion Whitefish Bay and Rhinelander move into the rankings this week, replacing Wisconsin Lutheran and Plymouth.

Division 3

It was not a good week to be a highly ranked Division 2 team. It began last Tuesday when #4 Omro went down to Laconia, although the Foxes remain on top of the Flyway by a game and fall to #6 this week. Friday was the action day, as top-ranked Little Chute was upset by Freedom in a one-point game and second-ranked Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau lost to D2 #1 Onalaska. These two losses allowed East Troy, who had been #1 earlier in the year, to ascend to the top spot once again. The Trojans have losses to D1 #1 Germantown and D3 #1 Dominican earlier in their schedule, but have been beyond dominating lately, winning its last three games by an average score of 97-36, raising some eyebrows in the process. G-E-T is #2 this week, followed by Little Chute, Wisconsin Dells, and Clinton. Most of the rest of the rankings remained unchaged, with Sheboygan Falls the only new team in this week's poll. The Falcons knocked off Plymouth and Oostburg last week and are now tied atop the Eastern Wisconsin Conference standings.

Division 4

The clear top three in the Division 4 Coaches Poll continues to be Dominican, Cuba City, and Auburndale. The top-ranked Knights of Dominican have games Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday this week, including a weekend match-up against a solid Madison Edgewood team, which will likely provide their toughest test before the playoffs begin. Cuba City hosts Benton tonight in a very good small school non-conference game. Bonduel went down to Pacelli last week, dropping the Bears from #4 to #7.

Division 5

Prentice again holds a slight lead in the D5 Coaches Poll. The state's smallest division has ended up with a bit more depth than perhaps we expected this season, with more than a dozen teams capable of making possible state tournament runs. There was some minor jockeying for spots in the poll this week, but for the most part the ranked teams held serve last week. One new team of note to this week's poll is Faith Christian. The Eagles sport a perfect 18-0 record but there are definite questions about the level of competition faced during the regular season. It will be interesting to not only see how they do in the playoffs, but also where they are seeded.
