Prep Notes: Pairings for 2012 WBY Shootout released; Concordia adds three to incoming recruiting class

Twenty-nine teams from Wisconsin are scheduled to participate in the eighth annual Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout, scheduled for December 26-27-28 at Concordia University in Mequon.
 
Many of the state’s top teams and individual players will take part in the largest holiday basketball tournament in Wisconsin.
 
Defending WIAA state champions Germantown (Division 1), Onalaska (Division 2) and Whitefish Bay Dominican (Division 4) are scheduled to play two games each in the WBY Shootout.
 
Outstanding class of 2013 prospects slated to compete in the event are Duane Wilson of Dominican, Bronson Koenig of La Crosse Aquinas, Deonte Burton of Milwaukee Vincent, Matt Thomas of Onalaska, Luke Fischer of Germantown, Turner Botz of Little Chute, Bennett Koch of Ashwaubenon, D’Andre Downey of Milwaukee Riverside, Anthony Carroll of Wauwatosa East and Nathan Dodge of East Troy.
 
Class of 2014 stars T.J. Schlundt of Oconomowoc and Evan Wesenberg of Germantown, along with 2015 prospects Diamond Stone of Dominican and Darion King of Racine Case are also expected to take part in the WBY Shootout, which for the third consecutive year will be held at the John Buuck Fieldhouse on the Concordia campus.
 
One of the many featured games of the WBY Shootout pits Dominican against Aquinas. The game pits a matchup of outstanding point guards with Dominican’s Wilson (pictured), a Marquette recruit, going up against Aquinas’ Koenig, a Wisconsin recruit.
 
Tickets will be sold at the door and are good for the entire day. A total of 25 games will be played with eight on Dec. 26 and 27 and nine on Dec. 28.

Concordia adds three recruits from Wisconsin to incoming class
 
Concordia University coach Shawn Cassidy announced the addition of three recruits to the Falcons’ 2012 freshmen class.
 
Port Washington senior Kyle Rismeyer, Random Lake senior Evan Rathke and Oostburg senior Brad Prinsen will join the previously announced tandem of New Berlin Eisenhower senior Keith Kahlfeldt and Waukesha North senior Jake Ricciardi in the Concordia recruiting class.
 
Rismeyer (pictured) is a 6-foot-4 forward who averaged 10.1 points per game as a senior on the way to earning honorable mention all-league recognition in the North Shore Conference.
 
Rismeyer helped a young Port Washington squad to a 5-9 mark in league games and a 9-14 record in all games.
 
Rathke is a 6-3 wing player who averaged 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest for coach Steve Murphy at Random Lake.
 
A first-team all-league pick in the Central Lakeshore Conference, Rathke led Random Lake to a 15-8 record and scored a career-high 30 points in a loss to Oostburg.
 
Prinsen is a 6-1 guard who spent the past three seasons on the varsity squad for coach Kevin Bruggink at Oostburg. He earned unanimous first-team all-league honors in the Central Lakeshore and led the Flying Dutchmen in scoring at 18.4 ppg.
 
Prinsen helped Oostburg to a 20-5 overall record and scored a career-high 35 points in a 66-39 victory over Random Lake.
 
Quick Hitters … Ryan Johnsen has been named the head coach at Greendale High School, where he played and graduated from in 2003. Johnsen served as the head coach at Cudahy last season.
