WSN Baseball Senior Awards

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Baseball Awards presented by Taco Bell.

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to five finalists. Winners are announced the week of the spring baseball state tournament.

WSN Senior Baseball Awards -- Infielder/Catcher Finalists:

Billy Brookshaw, Prescott -- Brookshaw earned First Team All-District and Third Team All-State honors last year after hitting .492 for head coach Jeff Ryan. The talented shortstop will certainly earn a third consecutive First Team All-Conference selection this year, as he his hitting .522 for the season. Prescott is currently ranked #1 in Division 3 and completed an unbeaten conference season at 14-0. Also a tremendous defensive player, Brookshaw has totaled 31 RBI, 40 runs scored, and 27 stolen bases on the season.

Jameson Dickert, De Pere -- Dickert has been the man in the middle (of the lineup) for the Redbirds all season in helping the team to the FRCC title. He was a solid player for De Pere last season, but did not receive any form of All-Conference honors. He's had a breakout senior season though, winning the Triple Crown in the FRCC with a .455 batting average, 4 home runs, and 29 RBI in league play.

Dan Kucharski, Martin Luther -- Kucharski handles the catching duties for the Spartans on most days, but is athletic enough to play shortstop on his "days off". Through 23 games this year, he's batting .537 with a .635 on-base percentage and .881 slugging percentage. The talented senior has 15 extra-base hits on the year and accounted for 24 RBI and 22 runs scored. He is just one shy of the school record for hits in a season and recently saw a 17-game hitting streak snapped. An outstanding defensive catcher, Kucharski calls his own pitches behind the dish.

Craig Nennig, Wrightstown -- Nennig, an Ohio State recruit, was a Second Team All-State choice by the WBCA last year, and has a good chance to move up to First Team recognition this season. Recently named the unanimous Olympian Conference Player of the Year for a second straight season, Nennig is hitting .439 with a .606 on-base percentage and .758 slugging percentage. He has 14 extra-base hits, 15 RBI, 31 runs scored, and 20 steals. Obviously a tough out, he's struck out just twice all season.

Nate Schmidt, Pardeeville -- Schmidt hit .573 on his way to Second Team All-State recognition last year, and has continued his outstanding play as a senior. He's actually raised his average slightly this year to .578 and has accounted for 16 extra-base hits, 33 RBI, and 45 runs scored. The Bulldogs are 21-5 on the year and have been ranked in the Division 3 Coaches Poll all season.
