Justin Rabon of Shorewood track and field has been selected as the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of May 28th through June 3rd following a statewide vote on WisSports.net.  Justin won three gold medals at last weekends’ 117th Annual Boys State Track and Field Championships in La Crosse.  He led all nominees with 554 total votes (54.2%) which was almost 400 more votes than runner-up Alyssa Lind of Ripon.

The Shorewood boys track and field team placed fourth in the Division 2 team standings last weekend at the WIAA state championships.  Justin, a junior, was responsible for all 30 points with wins in the 200m, 400m and running the anchor leg of the 1600m relay.  He won the 200m with a time of 22.06, just less than a tenth of a second ahead of runner-up Johnny Eagan of Wautoma (22.14).  He followed that up with a 48.85-second victory in the quarter-mile despite entering the event seeded eighth.  In the final event of the day for D2 boys, Rabon ran the last leg for the first-place 1600m relay, winning with a time of 3:22.41.

Remember, the only way your favorite player can be named Army National Guard Athlete of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the next week's nominees to be posted Sunday afternoon.
