Prescott's Billy Brookshaw has been selected as the top senior Infielder/Catcher as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards presented by Taco Bell.
Brookshaw is a big reason the Cardinals have been ranked #1 in Division 3 much of the year and are playing for the Division 3 state title. After earning First Team All-District and Third Team All-State honors last year after hitting .492, Brookshaw upped his game even more as a senior.
The talented shortstop will certainly earn a third consecutive First Team All-Conference selection this year, as he his hitting .513 for the season. Included in his stats are 1 home run, 1 triple, 8 doubles, 45 runs scored, 34 RBI, and 32 steals. Also a tremendous defensive player, Brookshaw was named the District I Player of the Year by the WBCA and is one of the finalists for WBCA State Player of the Year.
In Prescott's 16-7 state semi-final win over Oshkosh Lourdes/Valley Christian, Brookshaw led the way by going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
"Billy is one of the best infielders in the state and a great, great player," Prescott coach Jeff Ryan said earlier this year in describing his senior standout. "He is an exceptional student and a person of impeccable character."
Finalists for the award were Brookshaw, Jameson Dickert of De Pere, Dan Kucharski of Martin Luther, Craig Nennig of Wrightstown, and Nate Schmidt of Pardeeville.
