The Player of the Week is back again for 2012. The voting this year is upgraded and is featured at the bottom of the article. Voting is open until Thursday at 4 p.m., so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

WisSports.net Week 1 Player of the Week Nominees:

Ciara Capezio, Burlington Girls Volleyball - Capezio, was part of a Demons team that won the DI state championship a season ago and are now looking to repeat. Capezio led Burlington in kills with 75 in the two-day event in which the Demons won the Joust Tournament in Mequon. 

Gina Sereno, Madison West Girls Cross Country - After finishing sixth-place a year ago, Sereno took the girls title this year at the Watertown Invitational. She covered the 4,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 37 seconds.

Leland Gehlen, Baraboo Boys Soccer - Gehlen, a sophomore, scored three goals on the day as the Thunderbirds beat La Crosse Logan 1-0 and Holmen 5-0 at the James Nolden Classic in Reedsburg.  

Ryan Kromer, Hudson Boys Cross Country - Kromer took first at Husky Invitational in Eau Claire running in a time of 16 minutes, 32 seconds. He finished the race 49 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. 

Ali Glassbrenner, Madison Memorial GIrls Swimming - Glassbrenner was involved in seven events for the Spartans, leading her team to a third place finish at the Eau Claire Relays at North High School.
