WisSports.net Week 4 Player of the Week Nominees:

James Conner, Monona Grove -- Conner has come up huge all season for the Silver Eagles and proven to be one of the state's most versatile players. From racking up 146 receiving yards in a tough Week 1 loss to Waunakee to knocking down the potential game-winning pass in the end zone in a narrow victory over Fort Atkinson in Week 3. But what he did and the circumstances he has dealt with in Friday's 28-14 win over Stoughton was perhaps the most impressive. Conner's mother is in hospice care fighting cancer and was unable to attend the game. It has been an emotional time for the whole team, but Conner did his best to find respite on the football field. After Stoughton took a 7-0 lead early on, Conner scored three second quarter touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 interception return) to change the game. He finished with 11 carries for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.

Brandon Ehrke, Deerfield -- Pardeeville has been the big dog in the Trailways-North for a number of years, but Deerfield served notice they are ready to take over that mantle this season with a convincing 45-28 victory on Friday. Ehrke did damage in every area of the game to help the Demons to the win. He completed 6 of 10 passes for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns, carried the ball 8 times for a time-high 108 yards and 1 touchdown, and connected on all six extra points plus a 25-yard field goal. He managed to add a pair of tackles on defense as well as Deerfield moved to 4-0 on the season.

Carl Moll, Saint Croix Central -- The Panthers fell behind 16-0 to league rival Mondovi on Friday when Moll simply took over. He accounted for six straight touchdowns to close out the game as Saint Croix Central rallied for the 40-16 victory. He posted a Week 4 high passing performance, completing 23 of 33 passes for 383 yards and 5 touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed 14 times for 60 yards and another score. He set a new school record for passing touchdowns in a game and total yards.

Nathan Peters, Freedom -- The Irish made the playoffs last year after a seven year absence and appear poised to take the next step as a conference title contender in 2012. Taking on last year's co-champion Xavier, the Irish got a workhorse performance from Peters as the junior running back carried the ball 27 times for a state-best 336 yards and 2 touchdowns. Peters now has 634 rushing yards through four games and is only getting better.

Cody Turiff, Onalaska -- The list of surprising performances has to begin with Turiff, who came into Friday night's game with La Crosse Logan having not thrown for more than 75 yards in a game yet this season. With his team needing the production, he turned it up against the Rangers. Turiff completed 15 of 22 passes for 258 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Hilltoppers claimed a come from behind 37-34 victory. Included in those 5 touchdowns were a pair of fourth quarter scores after Onalaska began the quarter trailing 34-22.
