Athlete of the Week Sept. 17-23: Tara Matter, Spencer
Tara Matter of Spencer girls volleyball has been selected as the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of September 17 through the 23rd following a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were a total of 3273 votes with Matter edging out Sam Terry of Baraboo girls volleyball.
Spencer (25-3, 6-0) won the Bud Nelson Invitational in Abbotsford on Saturday. Matter collected 57 kills for the Rockets who went 7-0 on the day. She also led the Rockets to wins over Augusta and Stratford earlier in the week.
Remember, the only way your favorite player can be named Army National Guard Athlete of the Week is to vote and spread the word. Look for next week's nominees to be posted on Sunday evening.
