WisSports.net Week 6 Player of the Week Nominees:

Jameson Brock, Wauwatosa West -- One week after suffering its first defeat of the season at the hands of Pewaukee, the Trojans faced off with New Berlin Eisenhower. According to NOW Newspapers writer Tom Skibosh, no one at the school can recall scoring a win over the Lions. That changed Friday however, in dominating fashion no less. West pulled away for a 42-0 win, holding Eisenhower to less than 50 yards of offense. Brock was a key figure on the defense, recording three interceptions, including one he returned 27 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also carried the ball 13 times for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Michael Conway, Aquinas -- Aquinas missed out on the playoffs last year but took a big step towards getting back to the postseason with a 29-7 win over crosstown rival La Crosse Logan on Friday. Despite dressing just 25 players (less than half the number of Logan) due to injuries and a much smaller enrollment, the Blugolds came away with the win to become playoff-eligible, guaranteeing themselves at least a .500 league record. Conway completed 12 of 24 passes for 250 yards and all 4 of the team's touchdowns.

Dylan Hecker, Winneconne -- The Wolves took a big step towards qualifying for the playoffs after missing out last year, recording a 21-14 win over host Fox Valley Lutheran Friday night to move to 4-2 in the Eastern Valley Conference. The win makes Winneconne playoff-eligible but does not guarantee them a spot yet. Hecker ran for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns on 25 carries, and made big plays at big times of the game. His 71-yard score late in the fourth quarter provided the winning margin while his interception in the end zone sealed the victory in the final minute.

Neil Rasmussen, Barron -- Northwestern grabbed control of the Heart O'North Conference race with a win over Cumberland in Week 5, but Barron made sure the Tigers did not roll to the league title. The Golden Bears claimed a 35-19 win on Friday, forcing a three-way tie at the top of the conference standings between themselves, Northwestern, and Cumberland. Rasmussen came up huge just as he has all year, completing 22 of 33 passes for 316 yards and all 5 touchdowns the team scored.

Riley Schussler, Wrightstown -- Schussler was already a nominee for Player of the Week back in Week 1 when he posted a 213-yard day against Kewaunee. Normally we don't re-nominate a player, but what he did on Friday may not have been matched in state history. In a 58-13 win over Southern Door, Schussler carried the ball 18 times for 369 yards and 6 touchdowns. His yardage total would place him in the Top 40 in state history, but the incredible part is that he did it all in just the first half of the game. Schussler now has 1148 yards (8th in the state) and 15 touchdowns (tied for 9th) for the season.
