Athlete of the Week Nominees for October 8-14

Below are the nominees for the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of October 8-14. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Jessica Reinecke, Verona girls golf, won the Division 1 state championship. The sophomore finished three strokes ahead of defending champion Emily Joers of Waukesha South/North/West. Reinecke shot a 2-under par 70 at Cherokee Country Club on Tuesday and finished three strokes over par with a 147.

Casey Danielson, Osceola girls golf, became a four-time state champion after winning the Division 2 title by 14 strokes over Edgerton's Brooke Ferrell. She joins her older sister, Lindsay, as the state's only four-time individual golf champions. 

Elizabeth Konon, Homestead girls tennis, became a back-to-back Division 1 singles state champion after defeating Lea Krajcovicova of Milton in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Konon finished the season an undefeated 34-0 after going 37-0 last year.

Ali Pollack, University School girls tennis, beat teammate Maddy Ecker in the title match, 6-0, 6-1, to take the Division 2 singles title. Pollack, fourth-seed, downed top-seeded and reigning state champion Ellie Zimmermann of Notre Dame, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, in the semifinals. 

Chris Zblewski, Amherst football, had his hand in four touchdowns in the Falcons 42-14 win over Bonduel on Friday night. Zblewski rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 115 yards and a touchdown, all in the first half. The Falcons finish the regular season a perfect 8-0.
