Chris Zblewski, Amherst football, has been selected as this week's Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of October 8 through 14 after following a statewide vote on WisSports.net.

There were at total of 2133 votes. It was a two horse race with Zblewski collecting a total of 1010 votes while Ali Pollack, University School girls tennis, finished with 927.

Amherst finished the regular season undefeated, 8-0, and ranked second in the Week 7 WisSports.net Coaches Poll. Zblewski had his hand in four touchdowns in the Falcons 42-14 win over Bonduel on Friday night. He rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 115 yards and a touchdown, all in the first half.

Zblewski needs just 84 more rushing yards to surpass the 1000-yard mark in both rushing and passing yards for a second straight season. He's accounted for 32 touchdowns this year.

The Falcons plays the Niagara/Goodman/Pembine co-op on Saturday in Level 1 of the WIAA playoffs.

Remember, the only way your favorite player can be named Army National Guard Athlete of the Week is to vote and spread the word. Look for next week's nominees to be posted on Sunday evening.
