Glenwood City wasn't on a lot of people's radars prior to the start of the playoffs, but they quickly established themselves as one of the favorites. Their dominating run through the postseason culminated in a Division 7 title with a 46-21 win over Potosi.

The Hilltoppers knocked off their third previously undefeated team of the playoffs, which included a 46-6 win over Clayton in Level 2, a 28-8 victory against Hilbert in Level 4, and the title game triumph.

As they've done all year, the team did it with a strong ground game, which set a new Division 7 record with 465 yards on 72 carries. Isaac Tuttle led the way with 195 yards and 4 touchdowns on 21 carries, while Adam Holmquist added 149 yards and a score.

Glenwood City got on the board first, eating up six minutes of clock on a 14-play, 69-yard scoring drive topped off with a 2-yard touchdown run by Holmquist. Potosi answered back quickly on a 2-yard touchdown run of their own from Tim Fritz, and held the halftime lead at 14-12.

As was the case the last two weeks, Glenwood City took a two-point halftime deficit and turned it into a dominating performance in the second half. Three third quarter touchdown runs gave them a 34-14 lead at the conclusion of the quarter, but Potosi refused to go away.

The Chieftains scored less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, but Glenwood City answered with a 12-play, 79 yard scoring drive of their own, then put the game away with a 19-yard touchdown run from Tuttle with just under four minutes remaining.

Glenwood City finished the year 11-2, while Potosi's first loss gave them a 12-1 record on the season.
