Athlete of the Week Nominees for December 10-16

Below are the nominees for th Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of December 10 through 16. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.

Gretchen Schutz, Lodi girls basketball, recorded a triple-double in the Blue Devils 76-46 win over Mauston on Tuesday night. Schutz finished with 19 point, 10 assists and 10 steals. On Friday night, she scored 11 points in their 43-26 win over Cambridge.

Taylor Schmidt, Algoma girls basketball, hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Packerland rival Kewaunee 49-46. Schmidt finished with 14 points and 5 steals for the Wolves, who handed the Storm their 10th straight loss in Algoma. The Wolves, ranked #4 in D4, handed the Storm, #1 in D3, their first loss of the season. 

Jasalyn Lee, Brown Deer girls basketball, recorded double-doubles in wins over Cudahy and Young Coggs Prep last week. Lee finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds in the Falcons first Woodland Conference win of the season as they beat Cudahy  on Friday night. She also had 13 points and 12 rebounds in a 75-13 win over Young Coggs Prep on Wednesday.

Alec Adsit, Richland Center boys basketball, scored his 1000th career point in the Hornets 66-44 win over Lancaster on Thursday night. Adsit totaled 20 points in the win. He also helped the Hornets to two other wins last week. Tuesday, he finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds in a 57-40 win over Platteville, he also scored 15 points in a 54-53 win over Westfield at JustAgame Fieldhouse on Saturday. 

Joe Latimer, Monroe boys basketball, scored a career-high 37 points in a 58-49 win over Darlington on Tuesday night. Latimer went 10-for-20 on 2's, 2-for-6 on 3's and connected on 11 of 14 free throws. He had 32 of the Cheesemakers 42 points entering the 4th quarter. On Friday, Latimer scored 15 points in a 53-40 win over Fort Atkinson.
