Athlete of the Week Jan. 28-Feb. 3: Maddy Reed, Lourdes Academy
Maddy Reed, Lourdes Academy girls' basketball, has been selected as this week's Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of January 28 through February 3 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There was a spectacular turnout in the polls this week, 8,946 votes in all. Reed finished with 5,265 while Brooke Trewyn, Whitewater girls' basketball, finished second with 2,509.
Reed, a 5-foot-10 junior, scored a career-high 33 points in the Knights 58-40 win over Central Wisconsin Christian on Saturday. She added 11 rebounds and 5 steals in the win. Reed finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds in a win 57-32 win against Wild Rose on Tuesday, January 29.
Lourdes Academy (15-3, 9-0) is ranked No. 5 in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll.
