Athlete of the Week Nominees for February 11-17
Below are the nominees for th Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of February 11 through 17. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.
Jamaar McKay, Milwaukee Washington boys' basketball, scored 45 points in their 106-75 win over Milwaukee North on Friday. He totaled 33 points in the Purgolders 76-61 win over Milwaukee Bay View on Tuesday. McKay also finished with 22 points in a 59-49 win over Marquette University.
Cody Schwartz, West De Pere boys' basketball, totaled 29 points in the Phantoms 55-48 win over Shawano on Saturday. The night before, he scored 22 points in a 60-51 win over No. 4 Seymour. Schwartz also finished with 15 points in a 72-45 victory over New London on Tuesday.
Henry Ellenson, Rice Lake boys' basketball, finished with 34 points in their 55-42 win over Eau Claire Memorial on Friday. He totaled 18 points in a win over Eau Claire North on Saturday.
Brenna Heise, New London girls' basketball, scored a career-high 33 points in their 66-53 win over Oconto Falls on Thursday. She also added 11 rebounds in the victory. On Saturday, Heise finished with 28 points in a win over Shawano. On Tuesday, she totaled 9 points in the Bulldogs win over West De Pere.
Lexy Richardson, Verona girls' basketball, finished with 24 points in the Wildcats 60-55 overtime win over Janesville Parker on Thursday. She iced the game after making a pair of free throws after stealing the Vikings inbound pass with 5.5 seconds remaining.
