The state of Wisconsin is known as one of the best in the entire country in producing outstanding high school, college, and NFL offensive linemen, and that traditions continues strong today.

Al Johnson knows that tradition as well as anyone, starring at Southern Door High School before a successful run at the University of Wisconsin followed by a 7-year tenure in the NFL that saw his career ended prematurely by injury.

Al has returned to his roots and is contributing to the strong offensive line tradition with the establishment of the Al Johnson Line Camps in partnership with Dan McCarty. Like Johnson, McCarty was a Division 1 player and also spent several years playing professionally in Europe and indoor football.

The Al Johnson Line Camps are dedicated to providing quality, in-depth instruction on the techniques of Offensive and Defensive Line play to campers, providing life skills and off-the-field success training at camp, and mentoring players through their careers while helping them for FREE with college recruiting.

Al Johnson Line Camps have partnered with WisSports.net to help spread the word about these opportunities for state athletes and will be assisting WSN in evaluating players for positional rankings.

The camps have also launched a new website on the powerful Sport Ngin platform, which also powers WisSports.net and thousands of other league, camp, and facilities websites across the country. Additional information on the 2013 season, including staff bios, full location listings, and how to register can be found on the new website: www.aljohnsonlinecamps.com.

The Al Johnson Line Camps offer 3 different types of summer camps and our Off-Season Training Activities (OTA) Camp.

“Our OTA Camps have separate Youth and High School sessions. These 2 hour mini-camps provide a great opportunity to improve your skills in the off-season.

Our Youth Training Camps are for students in grades 5-8. Instruction is at the beginner level and set at a slow pace for grades 5-6 and increased for grades 7-8. The focus of this camp is strictly on the teaching of fundamentals. Players will have FUN, in a safe football environment. This is a non-padded camp.”

In addition, several opportunities are available for high school athletes.

“Our High School Training Camps are for students in grades 9-12 and are padded camps. Juniors and Seniors will be taught and drilled on basic to advanced techniques and skills at a much quicker and intense pace. The focus of our High School Training Camp is on the teaching of fundamentals.

“The Showcase Camps offered by Al Johnson Line Camps have a teaching of fundamentals component to them, but the main focus of these camps is on Offensive vs Defensive competition and drills for the purpose of college recruiting exposure.”

Staff for the Al Johnson Line Camps includes numerous former college and professional players including Casey Rabach, Bill Ferrario, Tarek Saleh, Derek Engler, and Ben Johnson amongst others plus highly successful high school and college coaches such as Clay Iverson, Chuck Wavrunek, Brian Toelle, and Drew Vanderlin.
