Team of the Week - Week 1: Adams-Friendship
The Adams-Friendship Green Devils have been selected as the Week 1 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. The team ended a lengthy losing streak with a season-opening win over Weyauwega-Fremont. The Green Devils were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 2842 votes were cast, as Adams-Friendship's 1287 votes edged out the 1010 of Madison Edgewood.
Prior to last week, the Green Devils had not won a game since September 24th, 2010 when they shocked eventual league champion Nekoosa 13-10. That 22-game losing streak came to an end Friday with a 42-30 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont. Quarterback Mario Chavez threw for more than 300 yards with 2 touchdowns while adding 2 more on the ground. Freshman Joe Duty also had a nice game, returning a kickoff and interception for touchdowns.
