Week 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year.

Division 1

The prep football world is still buzzing after last week's titanic match-up between D1 champ Arrowhead and D2 Homestead. Arrowhead's 13-7 loss narrowly knocked the Warhawks out of the top spot, as the team they beat in last year's title game, Sun Prairie, moves into the top spot. Arrowhead is second, followed by Bay Port, Mukwonago, and Appleton North. Franklin fell to Greendale and dropped from #3 to #8, while Verona's defeat at the hands of Sun Prairie dropped the Wildcats from #8 to #10. Badger and Hudson drop out of this week's rankings, with Stevens Point and upstart program Kenosha Indian Trail moving in to this week's rankings.

Division 2

Homestead solidified its spot atop the Division 2 rankings with a 13-7 win over Arrowhead in one of the biggest games we've seen in the state in several years. Kimberly remains a strong #2, followed by Brookfield Central, Greendale, and Green Bay Southwest. None of the teams in last week's poll suffered a loss, resulting in just minor shuffling of the same teams in the top ten.

Division 3

Catholic Memorial and West De Pere remain the top two teams in Division 3, but there was quite a bit of movement elsewhere in the poll. After a forfeit loss in Week 1, former #3 Wisconsin Lutheran went down to Pewaukee and dropped out of the rankings all together. Pewaukee moved up from #8 to #3. A week after knocking off Waunakee, Madison Edgewood fell in a tight game to DeForest and dipped from #5 to #9. Unbeatens Xavier and Rice Lake move into the poll for the first time this season.

Division 4

The top three in the D4 poll remain unchanged, as Big Foot, Somerset, and Lodi continue to hold down those positions. Fourth-ranked Little Chute was dominated by Xavier and dropped out of the rankings, while 5th-ranked Platteville fell to Dodgeville and dropped out as well. Speaking of Dodgeville, they moved into the poll at #9. They were joined as a new team in the rankings by Aquinas, who is off to a 2-0 start and are ranked 8th this week.

Division 5

There wasn't much change in the top portion of the Division 5 rankings, led by #1 Amherst. The bottom portion of the poll saw some turnover however, as a loss by Lakeside Lutheran dropped the Warriors out of the rankings, with Mondovi entering at #8.

Division 6

The top of Division 6 may be as good as any in the state, with Saint Mary's Springs still #1 followed by Edgar, Shiocton, and Regis. Four teams dropped out of the rankings however:  Cuba City, Athens, Whitehall, and Darlington. Moving in this week are Ozaukee (#6), Algoma (#7), Iola-Scandinavia (#9), and Reedsville (#10).

Division 7

One of the biggest jumps we saw in the pollls this week happened in Division 7, as Loyal's win over Athens catapulted the Greyhounds from #9 to #3, where they are behind top-ranked Glenwood City and 2nd-ranked Lake Country Lutheran. Black Hawk's win over Cuba City moved them up from #10 to #7, while Owen-Withee replaces Catholic Central in this week's poll.
