Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year.

Division 1

Sun Prairie retains the top spot in the Division 1 Coaches Poll, and for the first time this season had an easy game last week as they topped Beloit 56-24. Arrowhead got by Kettle Moraine 21-3 to get back on the winning track, and remain #2 followed by Bay Port. Mukwonago was ranked #4 but went down in an instant classic to Waukesha West in overtime last Thursday and in a deep division, dropped out of the poll for now. Kenosha Indian Trail's win over Oak Creek catapults them from #9 to #6 this week. Unbeatens Madison La Follette and Oconomowoc are new to the rankings this week.

Division 2

Defending champion Homestead remains a unanimous #1 in D2, followed again by Kimberly, Brookfield Central, and Greendale. Former #5 Green Bay Southwest fell to Ashwaubenon and dropped just out of the rankings this week. Menomonie, Oshkosh North, and Menasha move into this week's rankings. Menasha fell in to Kimberly in Week 1 but beat Stevens Point last week to open up VFA-South play. Losses by Wauwatosa West and Waunakee drop them out of the rankings. Hortonville's win over Seymour last week wasn't quite enough to get them into the rankings, but they are just outside the top ten.

Division 3

Catholic Memorial, West De Pere, and Pewaukee continue to hold down the top three positions in the Division 3 Coaches Poll. Mount Horeb/Barneveld's win over Waunake vaults the Vikings into the #4 spot this week followed by Monona Grove. Former #5 Seymour lost to Hortonville and dropped out of the poll. New teams this week are Notre Dame (#8) and Jefferson (#9).

Division 4

Big Foot, Somerset, and Lodi retain the top spots in the D4 poll but there was considerable turnover beyond that. Three new teams broke into the rankings this week while a loss to Arcadia dropped Black River Falls from #4 to #9. Brodhead/Juda, Aquinas, and Dodgeville all suffered losses that saw them fall out of the poll, with Ellsworth, Campbellsport, and Edgerton moving in.

Division 5

Amherst is a unanimous #1 selection in Division 5, with Lancaster and Stanley-Boyd hot on their heels. Cedar Grove-Belgium went down on the road to Kingsford (MI) in a tight ballgame and fall from #4 to #10 this week. Stratford's win over Regis moved the Tigers up from #7 to #5. Brillion was dominated by Roncalli, causing the Lions to drop out of the poll while the Jets move in at #8. Arcadia's win over Black River Falls helped them to the #7 spot.

Division 6

Saint Mary's Springs got a tough game from Omro but ultimately pulled away for a 30-7 victory and remained atop the Division 6 poll. Edgar and Shiocton are close behind once again. Regis went down to Stratford in a non-conference game, dropping from #4 to #6. Necedah, Hilbert, and Iola-Scandinavia all lost last week and drop out, with Darlington, Hurley, and Pecatonica/Argyle moving into the Week 3 poll.

Division 7

The division with the most stability, Division 7 is also the only one with all undefeated teams in the rankings. Glenwood City posted another dominating win, and their 66-point per game average this year has them looking like the favorites once again. Lake Country Lutheran remains second, but former #3 Loyal's loss to Owen-Withee dropped the Greyhounds out of the rankings for now. The Blackhawks of Owen-Withee move from #8 to #7 this week and are followed by another Cloverwood team Greenwood/Granton, making their debut in the poll. Fall River's dominating win over Randolph sends them flying up the rankings from #10 to #4.
