WisSports.net Week 6 Player of the Week Nominees:

Charlie Greif, Marquette -- The HIlltoppers were the only remaining unbeaten in Greater Metro play heading into a matchup with Sussex Hamilton in Week 6, and further validated their comeback season with a 38-21 win. Greif got off to a rough start, throwing an early interception that set up Hamilton's first score, but did not hang his head and came roaring back to throw for 215 yards and 3 touchdowns on 14 of 26 passing while adding 8 rushes for 24 yards and another score. It doesn't get any easier for Marquette, who has a road game against Brookfield Central this week and closes the season at Menomonee Falls.

Canton Larson, Oconomwoc -- 84-82. When people saw the final score of Oconomwoc's win over Wisconsin Lutheran Friday night they thought it was a misprint, or a leftover score from hoops season. A shootout to end all shootouts was the actual result however, with Oconomowoc making just enough plays for the win. Larson completed 10 of 20 passes for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns and added 14 carries for 198 yards and 4 more touchdowns in the game. His weaving 51-yard scoring run just before halftime was a huge play in a game full of them.

Sam Peterson, Reedsburg -- One week after ending Waunakee's 15-year home winning streak, the Beavers hosted a DeForest team they'd never beaten, on Homecoming no less. Reedsburg hung tight and won in overtime 17-10 as Peterson picked off a Brendon Lapp pass in the end zone on the final play to preserve the win. It was his third interception of the game. His second pick set up a Reedsburg field goal that made it 7-3 in the third quarter.

Tyler Sorensen, Stanley-Boyd -- In one of eight battles of unbeatens in Week 6, Stanley-Boyd posted one of the biggest margins of victory in a 37-7 defeat of Colby. Sorensen was his usual highly-efficient self, completing 15 of 19 passes for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 57 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Stanley-Boyd moves to 5-0 in the Cloverbelt with control of the league race.

Eric Wade, Homestead -- A strong defense that held Cedarburg running back Hudson Walton in check was a big reason as well, but its hard to overlook the contributions of Wade in the Highlanders' 35-31 win on Friday. He's improved each week and taken on a bigger role, culminating in a 33 carry, 208 yard performance that included 3 touchdowns. He opened the scoring with a 45-yard scamper on 4th and 1, then added a pair of second quarter scores to help Homestead to a 28-12 halftime advantage.
