Athlete of the Week: Miguel Vergara-Haro, Green Bay East
Miguel Vergara-Haro, Green Bay East boys soccer, has been selected as the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of September 30 through October 6 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were a total of 7922 votes this week, Vergara-Haro received 3028 of them, while Tyler Zaspel of Fort Atkinson football finished second with 2613 votes.
Vergara-Haro scored two goals to lead the Red Devils to a 2-0 victory over Sheboygan North on Thursday. Sheboygan North entered the game unbeaten in the FRCC.
He also scored the game-winning goal to beat Green Bay Southwest 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday.
