Athlete of the Week Nominees, October 21-27
Below are the nominees for the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of October 21 through 27. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.
Zack Baun, Brown Deer football, finished with 6 rushing and 3 passing touchdowns in their 61-42 win over Two Rivers in Level 1 of the WIAA Playoffs. He went 11-for-18 passing for 247 yards and ran the ball 29 times for 354 yards.
Zach Heller, Whitefish Bay boys soccer, helped the Blue Dukes to wins over Wauwatosa East and Brookfield East and a trip to the state tournament. He finished with 3 goals and an assist in their 4-1 win over Wauwatosa East and assisted on two goals in their 2-1 win over Brookfield East.
Lamont Murphy, La Crosse Central football, carried the ball 25 times for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns in their win over 3-seed Fort Atkinson in Level 1 of the WIAA Playoffs.
McKenna Symons, Markesan girls volleyball, helped the fourth-seeded Hornets defeat No. 1 seed Waterloo and win a Regional Title. She finished with 11 kills in the match, and collected 14 kills in Regional Semifinal win over Poynette.
Shannon Yahnke, Auburndale girls volleyball, finished with 16 kills to help the 5th seeded Apaches defeat #1 seed Athens and win a Regional Championship. She also collected 14 kills in a victory over Spencer in a Regional Semifinal.
